Flying Into France

Members and campers will fly into either Paris, France or Lyon, France. From there, you will need to either rent a car or take the train to reach the La Petite Château.

Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)

  • International airport with the most flight options
  • Connect easily to Paris Gare d’Austerlitz for trains
  • 3.5–5 hours by train to Montluçon-Ville

Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS)

  • Often shorter travel times
  • Easy connection via Rhônexpress tram to Lyon Part-Dieu
  • 3–5 hours by train to Montluçon-Ville

Train to Montluçon-Ville

From Paris or Lyon, you’ll take a regional train to Montluçon-Ville, the closest station to La Petite Château. Most routes include one simple transfer and run several times a day, making it an easy final leg of your journey.

Book on SNCF Connect

Complimentary shuttle service is available between Montluçon-Ville train station and the château.

Arrivals:
On Tuesday arrival days, shuttles depart the train station at 1 PM (13:00) and 5 PM (17:00).

Departures:
On Sunday departure days, shuttles leave the château at 7 AM and 11 AM. Reserve your complimentary transfer at checkout!

Train From Paris (CDG)

Take a taxi/Uber/train from CDG to Paris Gare d’Austerlitz train station. If you take the train, click here for detailed instructions.

Train From Lyon (LYS)

Take the Rhônexpress tram/taxi/Uber from Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport to Lyon Part-Dieu.

The Rhônexpress tram (located right outside the main airport terminals, next to the Gare de Lyon–Saint Exupéry TGV station) provides a direct, fast connection from the airport to Lyon Part-Dieu Station in approximately 30 minutes.

Total travel time: 3–5 hours

Driving to Root&Rise

Campers may also rent a car and drive directly to the château.

La Petite Château has reserved parking for up to 10 vehicles. Spots must be reserved in advance.
